George Smith è il giocatore dell’anno in Inghilterra

E’ il flanker Wasps George Smith (1,80 m x 103 kg) a vincere il premio di miglior giocatore dell’anno in Inghilterra. Il 111 volte Wallabies è stato premiato dalla RPA (Associazione Giocatori) in collaborazione con la RFU (Federazione Inglese). Smith, all’età di 35 anni porta a casa un grande riconoscimento che si somma ai passati ‘Australian Player of the Years’ vinti dal 2006 al 2009. La concorrenza era agguerrita, gli altri giocatori nominati erano tutti di alto livello: Nathan Hughes, Charles Piutau, Thomas Waldrom…. Ma noi avremmo comunque scelto il grande Andy Goode!

Gli altri premi RPA vanno a Maro Itoje (21 anni, 1,95 m x 116 kg) come miglior giovane della stagione, a Charlie Hodgson viene consegnato un premio al merito visto che si ritirerà a fine stagione.
